“What’s more, people are protesting for rights for illegals in America that they aren’t entitled to in Mexico,”

-- Jon Dougherty, Freedom Alliance --

It's true!

Protesters in the United States are taking to the streets DEMANDING special rights and amnesty for illegal aliens -- rights they don’t even have in their home country of Mexico.

Consider this from Article 33 of the Mexican Constitution:

“[T]he Federal Executive shall have the exclusive power to compel any foreigner whose remaining he may deem inexpedient to abandon the national territory immediately and without the necessity of previous legal action.”

Could you even begin to imagine the raving lunacy that would come from the extreme Left if President Bush and the Attorney General acted on such blanket authority here in the United States?

Especially when you consider the fact that such expulsions occur without due process.

But the truth of the matter is that other nations and people around the world have no problem with tough, no-nonsense immigration policy.

Our leaders should not -- MUST NOT -- cower when it comes to securing OUR borders and legislating sound immigration policy.  Just as important, they MUST NOT REWARD the more than 12 million people who have broken our laws and are living in our country illegally with AMNESTY.

In days, the Senate will come back into session to -- once again -- debate the immigration issue.  Thanks to your hard work since this debate began, we’ve been able to steer some in Congress to oppose blanket Amnesty.

But there is more work to be done. We must ACT NOW – we must continue to make our voices heard -- to counter the effect of the large-scale protests in major cities across America.  We must continue to sound the alarm and demand secure borders and common-sense immigration policy.

Send the Republican leadership in Congress a strong, no-compromise message.

Tell them the time for amnesty and compromise is over, that you expect leaders in both houses of Congress to craft common-sense legislation that contains REAL measures to secure our borders that does not include Amnesty for illegals.  Make it tough! Make it now.

How About This One?

Did you know that Mexico grants Mexican citizens the right to arrest illegal immigrants?

Here's what Article 16 of the Mexican Constitution states:

“In cases of flagrante delicto, any person may arrest the offender and his accomplices, turning them over without delay to the nearest authorities.”

Could you imagine our government granting such a right to you or me or the Minutemen who voluntarily patrol our borders?

But that's not all.  According to Article 33 of the Mexican Constitution:

“Foreigners may not in any way participate in the political affairs of the country.”

After the so-called Senate "scamnesty" compromise failed prior to the Easter recess, illegal aliens and supporters of general amnesty took to the streets in even greater numbers.

Their message was clear.  "Grant amnesty to illegal aliens or else..."

It's rather ironic that the illegal aliens who have taken to the streets to pressure our Senators into allowing general amnesty would be arrested for doing the same thing in Mexico.

It's almost beyond belief!

There's More

Under Mexican law, even LEGAL immigrants are denied certain rights!

It is illegal for a foreigner to own any land in proximity to the border.

Is Mexico afraid that U.S. citizens living on their border would dig tunnels to smuggle Americans – or DRUGS -- into their country? (But apparently it isn’t okay for Americans to get upset when that very thing is happening on our borders today!)

And when it comes to issues of employment and receiving government benefits, here's what is stated in Article 32 of the Mexican Constitution:

“Mexicans shall have priority over foreigners under equality of circumstances for all classes of concessions and for all employment, positions, or commissions of the Government in which the status of citizenship is not indispensable.”

It is time for the truth to come out.  The United States is -- and always has been -- the most "immigration-friendly" country in the world.

We welcome the tired, the poor, and the huddled masses of the world who yearn to breathe freeIndeed, we are a nation of immigrants.

And that should not change!

But we should not be ashamed to look the rest of the world in the eye and proudly proclaim that it is NOT BIGOTRY to demand secure borders and common-sense immigration policy.

We owe it to the American people, we owe it to those who have come to this country legally, and we owe it to our children.

The Crux Of The Debate Is Not Immigration, It's Secure Borders

Congressman Tom Tancredo said, "America has no 'immigration crisis'; we have an open-borders catastrophe."

Tancredo is right on target but right now passions are running so high that it's very easy for us to forget this very important point.

Hundreds of thousands of people have taken to the streets these past two weeks demanding general amnesty.

And our legislators are listening -- proposing legislation that focuses almost exclusively on amnesty, and practically ignores the REAL problem -- border security.

The crux of the issue is that our borders (North and South) are not secure.

Let's stay on message.  Tell our leaders in the Senate that the American people want secure borders, NO blanket amnesty and NO COMPROMISES!

Join me in flooding the fax machines of our elected leader in Washington so our message is heard loud and clear when they get back from their break.
