CFIF ‘Study’ Reveals Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Sex Discrimination Hypocrisy

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Center for Individual Freedom today released a "study" that raises questions regarding potential gender bias at law firms suing a bevy of major corporations … for gender bias.

"Our research was exhaustive," said Renee Giachino, the Center’s General Counsel. "We examined published lists of partners and associates at each of the subject law firms, meticulously separated them by gender based on given names and calculated the ratios using a proprietary program we got with our free cereal box calculator. We then transferred all data to bar charts featuring really pretty colors. The project took up most of a lunch hour, and we paid for it by passing on our daily $2.95 mocha skim latte.

"The results are shocking, not to mention shameful," continued Giachino. "Since our research protocol seems to duplicate precisely the model used by those very same law firms in their class action lawsuits against a number of employers, we are confident in the accuracy of our findings."

The "study" found that 73% (75 of 103) of the Partners of five of the plaintiffs’ law firms involved in class action sex discrimination law suits against major employers were male. Further, the study found that among the same law firms, 63% (60 of 96) of Associates were male.

"All we are now missing are depositions from a few disgruntled employees (and their contingency fee agreements, of course) and we’ll be ready to take these victims to court," Giachino concluded.

The Center’s complete "study" entitled, "Sexual Hypocrisy: Turning the Tables on Plaintiffs’ Lawyers In Class Action Discrimination Lawsuits," and including bar charts (which will look really good on television) is attached or can be read here.

In an addendum to her remarks, Giachino said, "Obviously, the Center is attempting to use humor to make a serious point: employment numbers, absent underlying individual facts, should not be used to clog courts with highly suspect class action sex discrimination lawsuits."

The Center for Individual Freedom (www.cfif.org) is a non-profit, non-partisan constitutional advocacy organization dedicated to protecting individual freedoms and rights and standing up for the free market. The Center pursues its mission through a variety of means, including humor, when necessary.
