Thomas Crawford's 19-and-one-half-foot tall bronze Statue of Freedom crowns the dome of the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C.  Weighing 15,000 pounds, Freedom stands atop a globe, the center of which is inscribed, "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of many, one).
