As of May, 2009, four women have been nominated to serve on the Supreme Court of the United States.  They are:

Sandra Day O’Connor (Ronald Reagan), Supreme Court Associate Justice September 1981 to January 2006

Ruth Bader Ginsberg (Bill Clinton), Supreme Court Associate Justice August 1993 to present

Harriet E. Miers (George W. Bush), nominated October 3, 2005; name withdrawn from nomination October 27, 2005

Sonya Sotomayor (Barack Obama), nominated May 26, 2009; confirmation pending
