In October 2007, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law legislation which bans the use of lead-based bullets within certain areas of the state that are home to the endangered California Condor.  Environmental groups claim that 24% of California Condors that die in the wild do so as a result of lead poisoning from ingesting spent ammunition.
