LAUNCHES AD CAMPAIGN AGAINST SENATOR MARY LANDRIEU FOR FLIP-FLOP
ON MIGUEL ESTRADA
The
Center has launched a Spanish radio ad campaign in Louisiana to
insist that Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA) keep her campaign promise
to her Honduran constituents.
The
30-second Spanish-spoken ad demands that Senator Landrieu keep true
to her word of supporting D.C. Circuit Court nominee Miguel Estrada.
Part of the script translates as follows:
"During
Senator Mary Landrieu's re-election campaign, she ran ads telling
Honduran voters that she supported the judicial nomination of Miguel
Estrada the Honduran immigrant slated to become the first
Hispanic ever on the second most important court in the country.
Now
Senator Landrieu has fought to deny Miguel Estrada a vote on his
nomination.
Call
Mary Landrieu TODAY at (202) 224-5824! Ask her to fulfill her campaign
promise on Miguel Estrada."
The
ad concludes with "Paid for by: Center for Individual Freedom."
"During
her 2002 re-election campaign, Senator Landrieu stated in a Spanish-spoken
ad campaign that she 'supported the candidacy of the Honduran Miguel
Estrada for the Federal Court of Appeals, and has worked closely
with the Hispanic Community.' She clearly has lied to her constituents
for the ultimate political gain -- re-election," according to Jeffrey
Mazzella, Senior Vice President of CFIF.
