Physicians Organized to Fight for Medical Malpractice Reform
Throughout the nation, patients are reporting longer waiting periods to see physicians, inability to find local physicians in some specialties and rising health care costs. From the physician’s perspective, the combined effect of escalating malpractice insurance premiums and reduced reimbursement have forced some from their preferred practice locations or out of practice altogether.
A group of concerned medical practitioners have formed an organization in an effort to fight back against the closing of hospitals and to curb the disappearance of doctors. The stated goal of the Politically Active Physicians Association (“PAPA”), also known as the home of the fighting docs, is “to ensure quality medical care can continue to be delivered to patients.” What their website address, www.fightingdocs.com, doesn’t tell you, their motto does – “Welcome to the fight of your life, which you must win … so YOU can save a life.”
