William H. Pryor
The Honorable William Pryor was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit by President George W. Bush during a Congressional recess on February 20, 2004 after Senate consideration of his nomination was blocked for nearly a year. President Bush first nominated Pryor to the Eleventh Circuit on April 9, 2003.
Prior to his nomination, Pryor served as Attorney General of Alabama from 1997 until 2004 and Deputy Attorney General from 1995 to 1997. The Mobile Register has called Pryor service "exemplary." Previously, Judge Pryor worked for two major Alabama law firms and was an Adjunct Professor at Samford Universitys Cumberland School of Law. After graduating from Tulane University School of Law, Pryor clerked for U.S. Appellate Court Judge John Minor Wisdom. The American Bar Association rates Judge Pryor "Qualified."
