CFIF Joins New Legal Reform Alliance
‘American Justice Partnership’ Assembles Most Effective Groups to Achieve Meaningful Results

Alexandria, VA — The Center for Individual Freedom today joined the American Justice Partnership, a new alliance of organizations dedicated to getting results on legal reform and changing American’s "sue first" culture.

AJP’s primary objective will be advancing legal reform at the state level. AJP will focus on helping shape an environment favorable to pro-reform candidates for state legislatures and supreme courts; enacting legislation and backing court rules that reduce or eliminate the perverse incentives for frivolous and unwarranted lawsuits; and educating the public about the cost of the lawsuit culture and need for reform.

"The Center for Individual Freedom is happy to be a part of AJP. In states across the country, greedy trial lawyers pursue outlandish lawsuits in their quest for jackpot pay offs," said Marshall Manson, the Center’s Senior Vice President of Public Affairs. "And in too many states, these lawyers find courts and laws that seem tailor-made to their needs. These lawsuits cost jobs. They threaten our health care system. They hobble our economy."

AJP brings together effective and diverse organizations under an integrated plan. In addition to the Center, participating groups include the National Association of Manufacturers, American Tort Reform Association, American Legislative Exchange Council, Council of State Chambers, Federalist Society, Manhattan Institute, Washington Legal Foundation, and a number of individual state chambers and state civil justice reform committees.

"The intellectual and political assets of this partnership are unparalleled in the legal reform arena," Manson continued. "More importantly, each of these organizations has an established reputation of doing the hard work and getting results."

The Center for Individual Freedom (www.cfif.org) is a non-profit, non-partisan constitutional advocacy organization dedicated to protecting individual rights and standing up for the free market.
