Earlier this month, the Senate debated the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act of 2008, a bill intended to address global warming by regulating carbon emissions. As expected, a cloture vote failed last week, gathering only 48 of the 60 votes required to proceed. It is unlikely the bill will make any further progress this year, but certainly will return in the next Congress.
Besides the inherent problem of carbon trading, the policies being proposed to address so-called global warming are controversial and not justified by current science. In fact, as recently reported by CFIF, 31,000 scientists shattered the myth of a “Scientific Consensus” on global warmin.
Recently, CFIF Director of Legal and Public Affairs Timothy Lee joined Renee Giachino, CFIF’s Corporate Counsel and Senior Vice President, to discuss the controversy, the global warming alarmists’ agenda and the prospect of climate legislation.
