CFIF Leads Coalition Letter Urging FCC to Maintain a Routine and Predictable Broadcast License Renewal Process Print
Thursday, July 23 2026

In a letter filed with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) this week, 14 conservative and free-market organizations, led by the Center for Individual Freedom (CFIF), reiterated support for Chairman Brendan Carr's deregulatory efforts in the communications sector, and respectfully urged the FCC to preserve the well-established, routine, predictable, and presumptive nature of broadcast license renewals.

The letter takes no position on the merits of any particular renewal application or pending matter, but rather argues the broader point:  Keeping license renewal routine and presumptive is consistent with Congress's intent and the administration's pro-growth agenda—while denying future administration's precedent that could be wielded against conservative, religious, free-market, or otherwise disfavored broadcasters.
